From June to October of 1945, Edna Miriam offered special training in conscious awareness of Mastery in Law to a select group of students in Yellow Pine, Idaho. The group, which varied in size from four to eleven at any one time, was unaccustomed to "roughing it." They stayed in log cabins, which had running water, but were otherwise without modern conveniences or amenities, including refrigeration. They used oil lamps and cooked on a wood-burning stove. Each was responsible for daily chores: Hauling firewood, cooking, washing dishes and caring for their cabin. The following commentary is drawn from their journals and letters of that period.
The Way of the Seer and Prophet is to ignore the truth of appearances and to accept, surrender to, and to declare the Truth of Reality. The first and fundamental Law of Expression for the Elect, the secret of Creation as given in Genesis 1 and 2, is to declare your creation good. "It is good and very good." To Be a Star A Light Steadfastness in shining Constancy in obedience Being without self Doing without thought of reward on earth Attitudes of a Star Faith unconquerable Love unquenchable Wisdom invincible Praise unfailing and unceasing Joy all-possessing Mistakes: The Father uses every tiny opportunity to test us for weakness. When we acknowledge that we may just have misunderstood, our Guards can work it together for good. They build a crosscut path back to our original path. By following orders instantly, whether or not we know why, we always do the right thing at the right time. If orders seem contradictory or confusing, our response is to know that a perfect explanation will come. If we listen in the Golden Silence, we cannot mishear. "Need to know": Why should we "need to know" anything beyond today’s needs for living, beyond this present hour? God will never forsake us. If we surrender to God, and live fully now, He will care for our next hour, and the next. How can we possibly live more than today now? Can we live next month now? God does it all, according to our faith, which means according to our present idea of His Power and His ability to work miracles. Therefore, have faith, use faith, and live just this one hour filled to overflowing with faith. He shall do all else. Each thing that is rightfully ours shall await us in the right hour. It is true, and we cannot hurry it toward us! We can only misuse this one hour’s substance fretting. To wonder is to doubt! This stands. Are we going waste our life, hour by hour, doubting His ability to bring our good to pass, or use each hour to the full to build our pathway? What He has for us is greater than what we blindly see for ourselves. "I am now become the Servant of all Thy Power, Oh God. Use me as Thy Servant, and let all Thy Power move through my body, cleansing, purifying, melting, dissolving and absorbing every cell into Thine own perfect image and likeness. Thank you, Father. You always say yes!" We must learn the difference between truth and illusion. When self-desires blind us, we are really blind to the difference between truth and illusion. Illusion is always founded on a fact that someone has distorted to fit a perversion of truth. Subsoul is our source of danger, not what comes from the outer, but what arises from within the little self, which trips us in the present.
"The graciousness and the loveliness, the tenderness and the mercy, the Glory and the Light of the Lord Jesus Christ now abides within me and moves through all my affairs." The graciousness and loveliness of the Lord Jesus Christ are adequate and equal to anything when they possess us. There is no problem, but there is a need to assure ourselves that it is part of the Divine Plan. To be possessed by the Light, we must surrender self until self is no more. We must uproot pride, arrogance and self. "Move in, Father, and possess me. My soul sings praises that I am being used!" We each stand upright as a pillar unto our own honor and integrity. Each is here to make the most of this summer. This training school here is more vigorous and rigorous than we apply outside. We share the common necessary work (preparing meals, cleaning the cabin, kitchen detail and bathroom). To ensure enough hours for our summer school work, each will do her personal work and not expect any help of a personal nature. This ties up with the Law to complete a task, tying up all ends. Finish your own task. Do not leave it for another to finish. This checks our alertness. If we pick up for another, we will receive no credits for so doing; we do it just for love. If another asks that something be done personally, be certain that you do not make another soft by so doing, otherwise no is the answer. Do not palm off any task on another. Discredits are given to those who lean on another. We also will be checked for judiciousness of time for diversion. A diversion is anything we do not have to think about. Alertness! Make judicious use of time! Lesson: To you has been given the full Responsibility of forever seeing all as Perfect and all as Good, to see darkness for an instant, only to "lift" and to "let" Glory rest upon what is dark – this is the full measure of your place on Earth, which is your Place of God. See to it that only this total Light possesses you. See to it that only Joy is your full life stream.
June 14, 1945 Live with the Master, hour by hour, leaving all others alone to live and to receive their lessons in God’s right way for them. Grant to each the freedom to be right where he is and as he is, without speaking, only shining out from the Golden Silence to bless. Seek to know how to love one another greatly, so that you may be your own fulfillment of all life and Law. To live fully and have a full life, you must know Love and be Love. There is only one way: Sacrifice of the "little" of earth to gain the "much" of Heaven. You shall make further and even greater sacrifice of self. Each shall so live in the High Place that all of the subsoul, still embedded in the world, may be lifted, coaxed to ascend higher where it may aid in the Oversoul’s reign over body and affairs. The subsoul has long been in command over the outer self. Therefore, it finds it hard to give up past reigning to be submerged in the Oversoul. Yet it must be so. It is the only way to go to the Master through the Gates while still in the flesh.
Excerpts from a letter We are in one of the prospectors’ houses – right on the main street of Yellow Pine, a mud road. Dry country. The dust comes in on us in waves when the trucks from the Stibnite Mine come through here. A stage comes in once a day, 2:00 p.m., and brings mail, then goes up to Stibnite (a town of mines about 15 miles from here). It leaves there at 4:00 and comes through here about 4:45 to gather outgoing mail. This is the only excitement here. The grocery store takes charge of the Post Office, too. It is as large as a pocket handkerchief. Our parcel post has been coming in piecemeal for the past several days. The last came in today. [They had shipped in more than 1,000 pounds of freight – dishes, cooking utensils, bedding, etc.]
You have been called. You have chosen the Straight Path of the Gods, to be undefiled by self, always ready and unselfish in service, asking nothing of outer gain or credits, asking nothing to the self. You have been under Trial by Fire, watched over in preparation for this so great work of these next vital and important months. Pray this Prayer of Service without ceasing, hour upon hour, each saying, "Let the Power use me now to its own great Glory. Let now the Glory of God use me unto the complete lifting of all darkness from the whole Earth. Let now the full Power make me its own Servant forever and forever. Thus am I now the willing Servant of God Almighty, forever and forever, Amen." Make your decrees then remember to stand on and by your own Word. Decree your Desires, true and steadfast, then keep all buried past doubts and fears lifted as they arise to the conscious mind, and in no way prepare a table for them to feed upon, either in your minds or hearts.
Indifference, lukewarmness and selfishness are reasons for not completing a job or leaving it to another to finish. This may cause another to waste time, blame, irritation or condemnation on the other fellow’s part. The one who left it undone must pay the debts, even if it means another incarnation! You may ascend, yet need to return for a peasant incarnation in a house with all the scrubbing and inconvenience imaginable for not paying attention to details! You may have other chores besides your own work. Be discriminating. Care for where you are according to required needs and time. In a cabin, as in Yellow Pine, to sweep a porch, do it in the quickest way possible. Do not expend the energy necessary to clean it as though it were a waxed floor that had to last a month in a city house. This is discrimination! Do not use enough energy to move a piano for a simple household task. If you need the energy of moving a fingertip or a hand motion, use just that, not a body movement! The egoic soul or conscious mind tracks everything, and plans other work plus watching the subconscious mind or subsoul attending to details. You track both levels simultaneously. It is like keeping the wires in a switchboard in contact constantly. You could cook, plan a project and carry on an intelligent phone conversation simultaneously. This is dwelling on several planes at once. Self-condemnation is a form of self-pity. Self-blame is darkness.
Excerpts from a letter When we came here, not a thing in the house but one double bed in front bedroom and one cot in back bedroom – a dining table and chairs in front room (it’s a dining-living room) and has a little stove, table several chairs and a cot. We brought in our own bedding. I have the back bedroom off the kitchen. It’s small, but we managed to get two cots in it, and one dresser. We have been making all other furniture out of crates and paper boxes. We mended all the shades, too. Mine was off the roller and cut from top to bottom in two great gashes, and part of top in ribbons. But we patched it all up with mending paper and tacked it on the roller. Last night we could use it for the first time. Swell! Have a bedside table rigged up from old wood pulled out of the junk pile behind the house – and two corrugated boxes pasted on top. Am making bookcases from orange crates. Have everything unpacked now. We have kitchen and pantry livable, too. Edna Miriam is a marvelous manager. Isn’t she strong? Believe me, things move when she decides and speaks! How grateful we are to have her as an ensample – and all she does for us is to pull us up by the bootstraps! I am getting raw milk from the storekeeper’s cow. The Graham’s, our neighbors, run the store and are very friendly. I am so grateful for this, for one of their daughters brings it over in the morning, fresh from milking. It has to be used immediately as we have no refrigeration and it spoils. At first it tasted dreadful because it was warm, and sour because the cow had eaten skunk cabbage or onion plants. It’s been grand the past few days.
Soul Ascension requires necessary steps. First, you must awaken all brain cells to live on three planes, physical-emotional, mental and spiritual. Your Guards cannot o’ershadow you to fulfill your destiny unless you awaken on three planes. To see and hear fully always, you must awaken all brain cells, midbrain neuron records, and your mental body lotus centers must be flaming. Everything you have built during an incarnation you incorporate into the neuron records when you go over at the end of life. Either it is worth it, or it is not. Decide! You have been very malleable to this point, yet you have failed to apportion your time for so much and no more. You must not sit up half an hour later to finish a task, then oversleep the next morning. It not only disrupts your hours and body, but disarranges Heaven! Inner Master Healers work on your body during the night watches, and they cannot work at other hours. Just plan your time wisely. What is the use of giving you new Law if you do not put into practice what you already have? Your worst time is the best to work out details. You are to work out details every moment of your life. You must impose order in everything! It is an Order for you to put everything in its right place. Anything out of place creates disharmony under Law. When all your departments are in order, you can find things in the dark. You can create harmony anywhere. When an egoic soul has not worked out certain lessons in past lives, those brain cells are closed in this lifetime. Your sets related to drudgery and details, which you should have used but ignored for several incarnations, are closed. You must not drag down your consciousness to the household level. If you are confused, Power cannot use your body. That is final! You can do the drudgery while you serve!
The Law is, when we bring human will to bear on Power it becomes force. One must be ascended in consciousness to speak the word "let," which is the only "open sesame" for Power. Surrender and let. God has given the egoic soul the power of conscious direction and control through the spoken word. God has given Universal Substance only the power to become that vibration which the spoken word decrees. "Let" is the only spoken word that Substance recognizes. "Let there be Light."
You will find that your karma is coming in gobs during this period. Draw a buffer cloud of Love around yourself to equal what you are lifting. Your words are Spirit, Life and Truth, and if you ask, a buffer cloud comes to you. Attend to your details with your tails in front, not behind. The more you push on all new details, the more your atrophied nerves return to life. You master "de tails" with tails in front, not behind.
Be constantly constant in attention to details. Seek to love each task more, to do it better and faster. So shall you redeem time, and such time shall be credited to your soul expansion. This is the Law of "use what you now have in your hands." Many become bored with the pettiness of the so-small details – they grow too weary and bothered by the necessary small everyday things and so lose time. Yet you can make life’s meanest daily duties into stepping-stones to the fullness of all Glory. Let no small daily task in any department of life be too humble for your care in self-discipline for soul expansion. For the climb upward you have no greater need than to keep your own Vows to yourself, to watch each task and finish it, to leave nothing for another to stumble over as he may seek to redeem time, to make each moment pay you the greatest of dividends, not only with a task well done, but with some discipline of the self to exalt your soul. Your path is narrow, sometimes with room for only one foot at a time, which is when doubts, fears or self-pity assails the conscious mind, when all hidden detriments will arise from the deeps of the subconscious. Lift them. Stop at once and raise your arms in surrender to the Power of Love. Let the Glory move in to possess every corner of both mind and heart. Let the Glory of the Almighty move in and possess you! Light absorbs darkness! If you find darkness, the answer is more Light, more Love, more Power. This is always your first step. "In quiet and confidence shall be thy strength." So enough Love, Light, Power is enough quiet and confidence.
You are ready for a final awakening of atrophied brain cells. Make a chart of all you must do for your work and life, and blame no one for what you have left undone. Not causing disorder in another’s departments is just as necessary as it is for you to maintain order in your department. Caring for yourself only and no one else in the group at dinner was very selfish of you. (Another defended me, making an excuse.) When you wish to make excuses for another, you take on the debt. Lift it without comment. If you mention it, it causes a debt. Subsoul wants to "mention" things. Pay your debts, and remember that you are paying fancy prices. You are gaining many credits. All you need to do for freedom is to pray once to your Father, then ask to do it all yourself. Come up out of your body and let in the Light. Any stiffness is because you have shut out Light. A lack of Light causes pain. There is no easy way for Ascension. You are going back to salvage your youth when you were fifteen years old. If you dawdle along any longer, it is a lack of planning. You are under Law to appear here at mealtimes. We shall start dinner at 4:30 p.m. Attendance at meals is the main thing. Fit personal business into your schedule at other times. You have a legal excuse to do all necessary work. When you have laundry, do it. Be a good time manager, be cooperative, and you will never lose. You can then work under any condition. Everything you strive to do, you will have, if you do not become lazy. Develop the habit of doing. You are still in the baby class of kitchen police details, but you cannot learn it faster anywhere else. You need it, for it is awakening millions of brain cells, and new eyes and ears. Idle words: The thoughts and emotions behind the words are what needs lifting. When you can really face your souls and know that eyes are made to see with, and when you want to see hard enough, you will see! Let the Light go through and surrender self-ideas. You hold self-ideas, not God-ideas. You think about God and letting, but you are just thinking about doing it. When you know, you could face total darkness and say, "I see." God is not blind! You must get to the point of doing it. This is surrender. You are playing a game of thinking about surrender. You are going to win! You shall gain the point of Oversoul consciousness so that you will never again descend into your bodies. This is the goal of your work.
Lesson: You have only begun to surrender, even at your greatest point of present surrender. Always seek new ways of vowing, then become what you Vow. Surrender your whole self. Gather still more attitudes, opinions and prejudices from your deepest past to surrender to God, the Father. Remember that the only Spoken Word for you is "Let." Your greatest past surrender is only a crude beginning. You are still only learning "how" to surrender. Surrender itself takes time. Yet you will keep on learning the "how" of surrender "whilst thou art in the ways" of true surrender. You are still babies in even knowing what surrender is all about. Seek to learn what the true giving up of self is about, what it truly gives you to be possessed of Love. True surrender to be possessed of Love gives freely without counting the cost to self or hoarding of self, or things for some distant day. Give while you may, to God and to man. Wherever you see or feel a need, there give. Surrender. Praise. Love.
(In the evening, we were taken to the Mount of Transfiguration. We were strongly chastised because we walked up the hill straight and faster than Edna Miriam, who switched-back, as they call it. She recommended it as best for the heart and longer life. Each one of us continued at our pace and direction. The result was that we had disobeyed, and because of this, much of the inner was shut off. Now we are on our own.) We are on Illyhi [pronounced Illyhee] Heights at 5,000 feet above sea level, facing southwest. Living on three planes of consciousness at once brought us here. While subsoul prepared dinner and washed dishes, egoic soul was planning the trip, while Oversoul in a fire body was before the Thrones. This exercise is to give you the experience of living on three planes. Do you realize why you had to be cleansed? Everything of a like nature all over earth is being lifted because of your Ascension. You may have no hidden pride or self. Of what virtue is it to give up the things that are easy? By comparison, you give up nothing, for these are all illusions. Edna Miriam had told us to follow her, since the strain on our hearts in climbing the hill would have been too much otherwise. Now we can "see" only half tonight. She gave us reasons, but not the occult. She told us that after dinner our bodies were busy assimilating food, and if we climb too steeply, we will not live long enough to fulfill our work. She prayed that we would follow one round. We did not. We were tested and failed. We could have laughed in following, but followed. "You thought it foolish, but I hope you feel foolish now. You have not much reason to be proud of yourselves. You will receive just a little less than half of what you could have. If the full shot of Power came through you, your hearts would collapse in three months to a year. You had a chance to add thirty years to your twenty years in release of Power tonight that would be of use to you forever! Congratulate yourselves on your stubbornness. The only reason that you get half is that your Guards walked where you should have walked. Their sacrifice ensured that you could have as much as your hearts can stand." We have all had tests, which are not play. We have signed up for the most dynamic training that anyone on earth has ever had. No one has ever been given what we will be given this summer. "You do not obey now, but you shall. You will receive only what you earn and do this summer, nothing more. You do not work on three planes yet. Do you begin to realize what you are in for? You shall have strenuous, stringent discipline of soul in conquering all earth. Do you realize how great an honor it is to be here? When you discover your loss through disobedience, comprehension shall reach to your toes." God read the desires of our hearts and has brought us to a high mount to show us visions of things to come and things to be. He does not burden us past our own ability to conquer. At each point of testing, we had full opportunity and ample Power to be perfect. Without instant obedience to the Father’s slightest wish for our perfection of expression, Power cannot use us. "Your tests shall slip upon you as a thief in the night. Obeying a hundred times to gain credits when it is not a test is best." Discrimination is doing the right thing next! Never use force. Discipline self by determined love, not by will. Never be tense. Declare "I am. I can. I do."
You did not take the teapot from the stove before dish washing. You were told to do this when you first came. (I said I was out of the room when Edna Miriam gave directions for the after-dinner kitchen routine.) There is no excuse, for you could have asked if there were other details. In ten days, the difference in your consciousness when you work will amaze you. Your body is lifted, ascended and healed. Just say, "stop this nonsense" to the body. I caught you on the slide. You know that you can come up, do you not? (I said yes, and was tired after working and the teapot episode.) When things start to pull you down, lift and open for the Light to move in. Your body is well. Nothing in this climate causes pain. It is just a reaction from self-pity. It is hard work, but keep at it. There is no easy way for any of us to do this. You are following the Master. This is your comparison, not with anyone on earth! It takes your great love to do this, and you are doing it consciously! Repent as you work. Repent here for your disobedience here, not over there when you disobey here. You are all working by the yard instead of by the inch. I wish to commend all of you for taking blame, lifting it, and for instant obedience. I warn you of one thing. Do not let down for one moment. The Master is training you, and he caught you before you fell. "I do this. This one thing I do." Learn implicit, exquisite, instant obedience and do not be hurt! If you slight a detail, you need a reprimand, and haste is no excuse. Work at speeding your work while maintaining quality. You did well this morning to get your own work out of the way and to help others. Do all personal things first rather than trying to help others, being late, and having to squeeze your details in. Billions of brain cells lie dormant in many people. You could open all of yours by age forty-five, and build new ones also. Only plodding opens neurons. You cannot "see" until the neurons are opened, and the only way is to open the brain cells above them. Your declarations are opening the akashic records in the midbrain for details.
Five times you have climbed your hurdle of self. January 1, you climbed the first rung and looked over the top. However, this time you climbed the fifth rung on July 6, sat on top looking over your left shoulder to the path, and regarded the past in self-pity, that beautiful self-pity you just did not want to leave behind! On July 7, after returning from your chores, you had a headache. After dinner you did not remove the teapot from the stove first before dish washing started. You were called on it. It was an old order, and you have no excuse for not hearing when Edna Miriam gave orders. You knew this from the first day of being in Yellow Pine. All this was from settling back again into the body and accepting body pain. You slid all the way down the five rungs and stood at the bottom. "I am success now! I now live above my body and forever it is the servant!" How does the Master know when you have leaped the hurdle and cast off all the past? When you are aglow with Light and serving all the world, not self, when all self is lifted, and you give it no thought, only service to the world. You are then alight with a glowing visible brightness, and throw off Light all around you. You are not one, nor do you take the path of one whose self-will flares up through the mantle, then burns it until all is black smoke and devastation about you! You are serving God’s purposes. If you did nothing but keep the house clean, cook and laugh, the Power would go into the world. Every time a duty is unperformed or thoughtlessness is, a line of lifting Light breaks and we must patch it.
Repeat the Declaration of Unquenchable Love before your Altar each evening. Your colors are much better. Your kindergarten work is complete. We shall turn you loose, essentially, but your exam shall slip up on you: Details. You are to think for yourselves. Be alive and alert, or you will fail when the exam comes. You are Chosen. The price is instant obedience and surrender to God always. Do not take anything personally. No question, no talk, no suggestion will make you do a thing you have not chosen to do yourself. Anything else is an excuse to do as you please. When you seize on a suggestion or remark as personal, it already exists in your subconscious mind as an excuse to God that you cannot "take" it, and you put on dark glasses. When the soul is determined to become supreme, you will not miss a trick, but will make the most of every hour. When you can look yourself in the face and no person, remark or blame can deter you, then you are not seeking props or outer excuses. This is the Law. You will be checked on self-satisfaction, and to maintain you in the right way. You will see and hear more because of your work. It is a matter of the goal you desire. You will learn about not missing a trick, step by step. Every hour is an hour to release Power over something or someone. Every hour is an hour to discipline self for laxness. To operate on self first is the keynote of what you must do. The final polishing is the hard part, so that you get as much from each hour as possible. Feeling so good about an accomplishment is so easy instead of feeling so continually concerned, not worrying, not fearing or heavy in your heart. This is not to steal joy from your hearts. Evening lesson: You are earning your places by building a foundation earned by perfect Desire. Yet you must earn it. You must work out all self, and must bring all soul into expression. There is no repetition for you. You take it either fully, or not at all. Do you remember the caution when you arrived, the advice about waiting until acclimating yourself to conditions? If you are doing to learn Discrimination and Discretion, you must learn when to tough it out and when to ease up. Ask the degree (extent) to which a Law applies to self. (If we do not appreciate what Edna Miriam gives, we take it the hard way from life. She made a sacrifice of her whole summer to bring us all here.) Letting you have the reins in your own hands is the only way to learn. The violent exercise shall be done early in the morning or late in the day. This is rigorous training. Take two hours of relaxation every day. Take it easy, walk slowly and breathe deeply using the alternate nostril technique [see instructions in "Eternal Youth"] during the heat of the day, which is good for the medulla oblongata. When you practice yoga breathing exercises without giving up self, you become merely an adept. It requires rigorous training. You have done very well today, and it has been your best day so far. You will be thrilled at your progress, and begin probation at midnight. You stepped up the tempo on dishes, did you not? You are thorough, but you are going to be thorough and speedy. You will always be somewhat slow about it, for you do not have the desire. Thorough is not to spend much time doing, but to be thorough and fast, yet you must do this consciously. The keynote is to listen and be alert. Do not wool-gather because what people say bores you. Edna Miriam has given you the keys of the universe. You will look back and wish for these pearls of wisdom she gives, which you do not heed. What you do not remember is due to lack of desire to be alive and to know all departments. Scouts take an observation test. First, they look in a store window and are later asked what they saw. You must know what is happening in all departments always. This is always a rigorous drill. Who can stand it? Details are de-tails, for everything needed. We can point them out only as lessons! Be grateful that they allow us! Spiritual seeing and hearing is nothing to be toyed with. You asked for this, but you have not been willing to pay the price. You can use nothing in Heaven that you have not gained on earth. You have made a stand. Are you going to hold it? If a short way to seership and prophecy existed, the Father would show it to you. If you cannot take more, if your wounds are sore and feel as though you rubbed salt into them, then you need more. God will rub harder to drive the wedge in deeper! You must not be personal. Have immense inner gratitude always. You have it. How are you acting about it? Childishly. Pray prayers of surrender and resolve this moment to go forth doing, being that which is your destiny and inheritance. Be alive, alert and afire with Desire to do and to be!
Excerpts from a letter This is what we have learned: Let no man or writing of man tell you that the Via Christa is an easy Way. Any such is a lie! It is a struggle, and a mighty one. The Way is not one of glamour, but a constant vigilant battle to overcome the self. The subconscious digs in its claws in the end, the last pulling over the hill, for it has no desire to "let go." One must remain alert, alive, and aware. One must not speak a single word that one has not first considered. We laugh and are joyous, but never flippant, prideful, haughty nor bored. We must watch the casual language of the world used in joking, for the Power goes forth. Everything we do sets the example to the whole world. The Power moves forth here, and we by word, action, deed, etc., stamp this Power and it goes forth as we have stamped it. Think of this responsibility! The world acts out what we do here. If we send it forth as perfection, then it goes forth as perfection in all things to all. "Go over your notes and watch what you are sending forth every hour. You do not do this by word of mouth, but by release of Power." This morning, orders were given to us for prayers tonight. We did after dinner. Much Power was released. My arms, as I held them up, trembled with the vibration, and I went high. We are now in a new State of Grace. We are to be in strict school until August 10th. So far, we have been instructed on details of the household. Now we are told that all past has been kindergarten, and it is finished! We are to be turned loose, and our examination shall creep up on us unawares. We must remain alive and alert on all past reminders, and do all, alone, then be checked. I have had such remonstrating for the atrophied brain cells with which I came to earth. Not only new ones to open, but closed ones due to a fifth incarnation back! Have been an aristocrat in these past incarnations, and never had to be the flunky. Now I am learning that every infinitesimal deed and thought and attitude, and even ones I am unaware, unconscious of, are vitally important. Now, to go on with the work from this morning: If we do not come through on every hour of every day until the 10th, there will be no soul flight. Orders are thus, no ninth hour scurrying in repentance will do. We earn it each day, each test. This is so because if we are not perfect by then, the Power would be too much for our hearts. She said, "You are chosen. The price is instant, obedient surrender of self always. Do not take my reprimand personally, but as pure Law, and not to the self. Yet take it seriously. No question, no talk, no suggestion from another can make you do a thing you have not first chosen to do yourself. Anything else is an excuse of the self." No excuses are accepted. We do what is hidden in us. Our every word, our answers to lessons and reprimands, give us away. "When you seize upon a suggestion or remark and carry it out, it means that it already exists in your subconscious. It is then an excuse to God that you can’t take it. You are then looking through dark glasses that you have put on your self. When the soul is determined to become supreme, not miss a trick, and make the most of every hour, no remark will deter it. If you can look into your own face, without a word of excuse or blame, then you are not seeking props or excuses on the outside. Keep checking on yourself constantly and check for any mistakes or mishaps, daily, hourly." Remember that the 10th will slip up on you as a thief in the night. Seeing and hearing comes on credits earned, and it is a matter of the goal you want! You will learn that every hour is an hour to release Power on something for someone else. You will learn about it step by step. Every hour is an hour to be efficient and not blame the self for laxness. Operate on self first. Your "beam" or "mote" is the keynote of what you must do. The final polishing is the hard part.
Excerpts from a letter We have very little time for letters or study. Mornings we have our duties and all takes much time with wood fires, etc. We have a lesson following breakfast. We must be back here by 4:30 sharp to start dinner. After dinner, there’s more water to get, milk to get, chips to pick up for fire, firewood, then a sunset as tonight. We stop and watch it. It was 10:00 p.m. when we came back into the house. Then we had a short lesson, and now it’s 11:00 p.m. and "lights out" at 12:00, and all our ablutions to make prior – and so it is. I started this but can’t do too much tonight. We are on our own before the 10th. There are no repetitions for us. We take it (whatever) fully, or not at all! I am having such a time, for not only must brain cells be kept open – but I must work out a condition I built in five incarnations ago – positively crystallized, really galvanized. I must come through. I am put completely on my own. Had quite an experience this week in cleansing the subconscious – and have learned that one must be in deep grief – a heavy heart – that one should not allow such filth and iniquity to reside in one. Extreme honor and honesty with self always. No selfishness, supplied by subconscious through reasoning, allowed. Ever. It is not easy to become as the Master, perfect in Wisdom, in Love and in doing. The time has come for a cessation of thinking about it and talking about it. The time now is for being – not even becoming! Be victorious now. These months are so important. We are being initiated. We who are here now are under training more strenuous than any School ever upon earth. For Degrees are being taken now for true Mastery. We must not fail. Am working out self-pity and resentment deep down, from fifth incarnation back. Spent five as an aristocrat, and must do all things here now – or cannot go back. Will have to incarnate again alone, as a peasant to learn details and do chores!
You cannot open the higher Mysteries except by lifting subsoul or self. If you push your way into the higher Mysteries without lifting the subsoul, it is force. The Light must descend to the subterranean subsoul, and you must give up subsoul for every Mystery gained. If this were not so, the Power released from higher Mysteries would act as a boomerang and all karmic force would hit you at once. Do not be dishonest or dishonorable with self. Do not joke or laugh about what sinks back into subsoul and keeps you down. This is not condemnation to judge the subsoul, but justice. Be rigorous with the subsoul. Laws of the Mind: Ignorance is lack of observation or definite lukewarmness, indifference or failure to care after observation has taken place. Information gained through observation, pondered, analyzed and fitted into the facts of one’s life become individual knowledge. The causes of all failure to recall or remember is due to the failure to ponder, analyze and fit into the facts of one’s life what is observed. We call it "I can’t remember." You must give up some darkness for every mystery gained. It takes both effort and time to make a deep enough impression on the conscious memory cells. A poor memory is due to mental, emotional and physical laziness with many self-excuses to account for it: "I am too busy. I am too tired. I have too much to do and not enough hours in the day." It takes rigorous self-discipline to overcome such subsoul self-excuses for its own total indifference whether any knowledge is gained.
Your resentment this morning of Edna Miriam for mentioning the tear on the tablecloth was dishonest and dishonorable. You scraped bottom according to the depth of your Desire and Vows. No excuse, justification or explanation is ever legal! Just say, "I have sinned, Father," when you are at fault, then go and sin no more. Take life in order. Ask the Father what the next step is and do it. Do nothing from self from this hour forth. Call on the Light immediately to fill any spot and cleanse it. "Move in, Father, and cleanse all past sin." Love for the Master pays this tremendous transgression. The self is filth of the worst desecrating kind. It smells. When the test comes, do not think of the size of the thing for which they criticize you, think how it indicates what is under the surface. When your conscious mind can so forget the test, temptation and trial and seize on the criticism, Law counts it as self-pity, self-pride, resentment, rebellion, intolerance or grief. You have at last finished learning about it. You still must plod to erase subsoul-little self memory impressions in sacrum and solar plexus centers. Now you work. You will be alive, alert and awake. How will you handle your families and the world when you go home Be it! Be so busy making them happy that all is well. You remain high. You need no lesson training to be either, just be the thing. They will follow. If another turns blame on you, do not see it. Just lift it and know that a bit of subconscious mind is coming up. Otherwise, you would not see it! Remain conscious. Subtle subconscious mind puts up a plausible reason to get out of it. Live high, others will follow. (What came up in me this morning, after the reprimand for the cut in the table oilcloth, was like black oil and would clean up ten years of daily living. I had been so frequently reprimanded before that I salved my own self with an excuse to save myself.) Isaiah 45:3, "I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places." What was hidden had to be lifted. You shall have a mind alert, awake and in control, using Discrimination. Discrimination is the high faculty of the Gods. This is the first time your sacrum chakra center is whirling; you are ready for o’ershadowing. You have much to do. The greatest thing is to hang onto what you have tonight. (Edna Miriam used as much Power as force today on me as a week’s worth in sunshine.) The only way to conquer a subsoul is to conquer it on its own ground. It is like battling a sedative to keep awake. It had to be ordered to death, a death struggle and was the dweller on the threshold in "Zanoni"; it was an initiation in "Brother of the Third Degree." Each time a struggle takes place, even if it ends in failure, you gain more strength to win the next battle. They never give you a test that you cannot win. If you do not win, you can pass the initiation of self-pity that follows. Today is a quieter day. You will find it easier to hold your points but be alert! Do not go to sleep! "The Breath of God moves through me, vitalizes my body, fills me with life, cleanses and purifies me." If you call it a draft, all body pores are closed and congestion takes place. The idea that a breeze can harm you (a fear of the breath or life of God) closes the pores for a whole day. Its action is like dry ice on the skin. Declare that your body is cleansed, purified and that the life forces move through. Open yourself to the life forces. Raise your arms, take a deep breath and declare that you are dried out from the inside, or the action is like dry ice.
Our textbook of history must include the Mysteries of the Oversoul, egoic soul and subsoul. We of the First Gods of Creation who descended, the Rulers of Creation who are ascending, had to give of our own soul substance for the early forms of creation, even to the gases. When we threw off these lifesparks, we threw off one-quarter of our own soul substance to become the first life forms. Soul substance must have conscious intelligence to have conscious control, to solidify into the myriads of forms. After conscious intelligence moves into the first form, unconscious intelligence will follow. One quarter of the soul substance that we threw off became the subsoul because it crystallized into sub-form and followed sub-form, dominating it up through evolution. All created evolution is responding. This half (one-quarter subsoul and one-quarter sub-form) responded to the half on the outside, which was the egoic soul and the Oversoul. They called the combination of the outside half (egoic soul and Oversoul) the group soul that guided consciousness upward in evolution until it stood upright. When it began to stand upright in the Garden of Eden stage, it began to take to itself a separate, individual identity, and it began to take rulership of form, not only of itself but everything about it. This was the fall of man. This has continued until today and is what we are lifting back. We must put our house in order, to receive the Mysteries, to make room for our new guest. The silver cord extends from our Star of Oversoul to the egoic soul. When you are ready to burn away the silver cord, you are prepared and lifted to a Shaft of Light. Your Great Guard hitches your silver cord over a windlass of Light inside your Star and 1,000 Priests guard it. Your silver cord is burned away from the heart and coils and resides in the desire body as the "serpent in the heart of the lotus." The depth of devotion, recognition, your complete acceptance of all blame to the self for everything that can happen where you are now, determines the time it takes to burn away the silver cord. It takes complete and total surrender to fill the chambers with Light. Prayer, praise without ceasing and the completeness of surrender determines the time it takes to burn away the silver cord. Therefore, you can do ten years work in two months. Today’s completeness must be higher than yesterday’s, or lukewarmness has set in, and you have lost the point of white heat. "I am now walking the Miracle Pathway. All things else shall be added unto me, through Jesus Christ our Lord."
You will have the right words to give others, although some move away in wrath, or contempt. Your words will always stand. One day they will face it. Be sure you speak in love, and be sure you can hold them always. When you reprimand and point out the truth, your responsibility is that you may never let them go until they see the truth. The subconscious grasps every opportunity for an excuse. You must have eyes in the back of your head. It is possible. Dig out what lies underneath and let Light through from above. It is like a muscle that is clumsy until you use it enough to strengthen it. Wake up in joy and declare, "This is my perfect day!" Feel that all is well and you are ready for a glorious day. Lesson: You are the Lifters of the World. Are you grudging with your surrender? Can God fill pitchers already full of self-interests? No. He must have new chambers in your subsouls to fill with an ever greater Glory, if you are to Ascend high enough for August 10th. Only as you dig all past memory impressions of all negative past karma from the depths of subsoul shall God be able to use such prepared chambers to His Honor and Glory, and so fill them with new soul substance to ascend your physical body above all earth bondage to past weaknesses and add enough new robes to your souls for complete awakening of full seership and prophecy. (A very long sentence!!!!) Pray for a High State of Grace, higher than ever before. Unless you do, you cannot partake of that Greater Power used as "greater works," which shall be fully released through all who are in a high enough State of Grace on August 10th. Make certain that you have done all that you Vowed to do. Make certain that you are in a State of Grace and not just thinking of a State of Grace.
Are you surprised that more self is at the bottom? The most subtle and damnable is the subtle devilish will to hide. The only way to clean this cesspool is to bring it to the surface and scrape it. You will have arrived when you have reached the day when you look up and say, "Here, Father, cleanse this. It is mine," with no idea about self or personal response. You are sacrificing self. When you have finally cleansed self enough, you will not even remember to say "but." Say, "Oh, Father, let it come. Let it come and cleanse it all." You do not need to ask, "Am I free? Am I right?" It is the little self only that poses such a query to prolong self’s dominance. You do not think, "I am free, down, up or giving." You will remember nothing except to do and do. (Someone complained of eyestrain.) You wish your present ideas of weakness. Then mayhap you will begin to give up and grow a pair of eyes as windows that should serve you. Do not say, "She had more than I." You can do anything you want if you want it hard enough. Do not discard your glasses; wear them until your eyes are fully healed. When you finish kitchen police and all details, remember that you still have your bodies to make over because you must vitalize and quicken every cell of your body to a higher grade of substance. Forgetting attention to details, loving the body, and excusing self for details is all self. Every time you conquer, old cells become desire body molecules and the silver cord burns away. Many try to sublimate the silver cord by force to burn it away. It leaves them with a bad heart, a suicide. It takes twenty years, but you can accomplish it in two or three months, according to the heat and greatness of your sacrifice. How high can you reach? How much heat can you use? How much White Light can you use? Your only point of failure is your own idea of Desire.
Lesson: Because of our dietary limitations, you have held the idea that unless you ate more than others of what you could eat, you were deficient in strength and health. You worried about this for years. Any indigestion is due to overloading your stomach – no one should do this. The stomach should have at least twelve hours of rest and no use. Two meals a day are all that are necessary. If you are hungry, drink soup, milk, tea, bouillon, or crackers to digest foods. Declare that whatever food you eat gives you strength for all your needs. Do not overeat. All food is perfect Substance. Be wise and never overdo. (Although I have not had the habit or training of eating at night, I acknowledged this, accepted this as my own and said, "Thank You, Father. This is mine," and lifted it. Edna Miriam pointed out that this was a perfect example of how to do it.) When we leave for incarnation, we leave our place empty. If another can return first, they could. However, the way is that the one who returns must be that selfless one who is it. None other could take our place, because the love of the one who is it would say, "Well, Father, I am just serving You – give it to that one" (the challenger). Thus, Law protects one always. What you give, you gain. The unalterable Law holds it for you against the very fact that anyone would covet that for which another has sacrificed. They give all this great lesson today because you came through!
An incident occurred in the pantry. I do not know the details. Someone said "but." Edna Miriam said that this was worse than any. She said never to turn your back or be inattentive when receiving orders or directions. All must pay attention to an Order given to one. Offer no excuses anytime. Edna Miriam went to her bedroom. I looked at a cluttered table before leaving, but we went into my bedroom and prayed at my suggestion. Edna Miriam came from her room and started the kitchen work. I knew and was told to go but chose to stay while the others prayed in deep contrition. Felt I should stand by them. We prayed, then went to the kitchen. Rank indiscriminateness! I knew better. It was self (lazy) to pray, soul overruled! All you did was have an emotional jag. When duties are let go of for this, what then? You are in utter disgrace. Return to your room. We were left in my room until we understood: "I am to blame. Selfish and emotional. Not living in the Heart of Being. Lack of Discrimination." After Edna Miriam had done all the kitchen work (dishes, the floor, etc.), we were called. We were told that the next step of our training was that Edna Miriam would not instruct us for a month. Remember all your lessons and instructions. You are on your own. "Your tests shall come upon you anytime, as a thief in the night!" You shall take all reprimands, tests, trials that are necessary to bring you through. You are as important only as you lend yourself to be the instrument. You are not to become emotionally upset in any way, and must be so tested. Your motto in returning Home is: "I cannot go back over broken hearts, dead bodies or unfulfilled duties." After dinner, we reviewed the day’s lessons: We have great Power being released through us, yet we cannot decide between self-glory and duties first! Duty first, then prayers. We have no time ever for sentimental jags, no matter what! Prove yourself according to the training you have already received. Listen, and do not interrupt when Edna Miriam speaks. Ask no unnecessary questions. Ponder first, and your question may be answered before you ask. Prove yourself. "I am sorry" means nothing. Prove it by deeds. "Please excuse me" or "pardon me." The present subsouls are filled with the filth of past incarnations that must be lifted. Cleanse these chambers of subsoul that the Master may fill them with Light and Power to be released. We are of no use to the Master until all pride, resentment, grief, rebellion, etc., is completely out! We cannot release Power to the world on August 10 until cleansed. Complete surrender is doing and being as Love, released to all of earth.
Edna Miriam had told me to take a bottle of milk to the pantry, "Just take it and put it there," said Edna Miriam. Another picked up the refrigerator pan and looked at me inquiringly; I hesitated and was checked. I did not listen to the words as spoken, and must listen attentively, not hesitate when another wonders. Go straight to the objective. Great Power is moving through us. The slightest misuse of Power can cause 100,000 people to fail in a few seconds. These next two months are filled to overflowing with Earth-Lessons for everyone. Those who remember to operate on the following words, which really are States of Consciousness when lived, shall reap rewards and credits greater than at any future time.
In following the Master, we must cleanse the self traces from each center in the body. All crystallization and all weakness in our bodies are now caused by remaining traces of self in the cells. Each cell of the body has its own individual memory. Therefore, each must be cleansed. To do this means the constant watchfulness of every detail of life. There is no detail of daily living too small to be censored by me. Idle words, actions, idle expenditure of energy, such as gossip, criticizing, even self-condemnation, instead of proper repentance and lifting, surrender, giving up of self-things, all must be accounted for in each day’s final judgment. Therefore, we must watch for small and idle things in each small detail of our lives.
One Law encompasses all Law. Love will fulfill all Law. Yet, how can Love fill an already full vessel? How can God fill you unless you empty the old from your vessel? Many Laws must be well-learned before you empty the vessel completely. You might empty it all at once, but you do not. You empty the vessel, a drop at a time, and God adds a drop of Light in that space. Drop for drop, so He gives. He touches you with a Magic Scepter of Love – and will you, can you give up to Light all the subsoul? Have you the strength? Or must you go on surrendering it, one drop at a time? Why dally in surrender of the little self? You can go to the Master fully, one bit at a time or all at once. A "bit at a time" is the daily "dying," which you can overcome by the complete sacrifice of self now. When Love Supreme possesses you until no drop or spot of self remains, Love shall then fulfill the whole Law within you and for you.
Remember all lessons learned. Do not let down on self-discipline. You must continue opening and developing your brain cells. A Law lesson later:
Edna Miriam saw the salt and pepper were missing from the table. We ribbed the person responsible for them about what was lacking, and she saw a large object missing in her desire to see. The lesson was, (1) when one needs to see a thing, ascend instantly in surrender to the Heart of Being. (2) Stand in Light. (3) In an instant, become Law. (4) Look around in Light for it and the Light will appoint it to be done or find what you seek. You have progressed, but you have just begun. Now you enter the next step, to take responsibility. You have not taken on the full responsibility necessary. You think you know more than others about responsibility, but you know very little yet. To be fully responsible to Law is to strive to be responsible for every deed, thought, desire, picture, emotion, word to the full extent of the Law.
July 21, 1945 Constantly struggle. When you do not struggle in your work, you are slipping backward. I mean a struggle. This greatness consists in the ability to stand the test of endurance, which is the supreme test. Be a greater waiter than all the rest of the world can wait, never letting go. This is the epitome of a long path of tests and trials for pride. You are invulnerable to the asininities of others because of this; you will look upon them in commiseration. Light is invulnerable. That is the gift given you. Once the soul takes charge, you are invulnerable, and you cannot be touched. The great soul is the one who can stand and be used by all Power and Light. The greater the use, the greater the soul. (They repeatedly test us for everything in which we desire to be successful.) Cry up, if you must cry, without any waste of time! Later: This is your day of judgment; each must give an accounting in the day of judgment. The words of the mouth follow the meditation of the heart. The fuller the medulla oblongata gets, the more the nerves expand in the brain centers, heart and solar plexus; they fill with a dry rot. "Out of the heart the mouth speaks. From the depths, my soul crieth unto Thee," when one sees that basement. Every time you open your mouth, you advertise yourself. "I am sorry. I didn’t mean to say that, or do that. It’s not I," are your statements showing you had left open the door of your subconscious when you had intended to keep it shut and locked! A parent gives a child awakened capacities. Whatever the mother is interested in before the child’s birth, she awakens those capacities in the child. Parents can pass on awakened and developed brain cells and awakened impressions on the memory cells. If the mother experiences an emotional shock during the gestation but does not return to it emotionally, the child will grow up with no inhibitions in that regard. All memory of it will be erased by the child’s tenth birthday.
Indifference is refusal! Start your vibration early for anything you must do. Prepare it all day, then at night just say, "Father, continue this vibration through the night." Don’t go to bed with a cloud over your head. It takes twenty-four hours for a vibration to return. The White Light of the Christ permeates you, moves out to all you treat and returns to you as a Cloud of Glory. When you free the subconscious mind, it loves to be the egoic soul. The subconscious is so faithful in building without deviation or help. Look into the subconscious grooves. If you have any thought of "Oh, I wouldn’t do that," you have found your opinion and prejudice. You understand that everyone is free and does what he does because of his place on the path. Any "I don’t understand" or thinking that another does wrong, is opinion and prejudice. To overcome, keep yourself prostrate before the Throne and be responsible for every word spoken. Sift the sparks of personality from Law before the Thrones and do it hourly! Stop the instant you deviate from Law and let personality creep in! Knowing Law is right, but it is not a Law unless it applies to the world! Be sure your Laws are all impersonal. When it becomes personal for you, you are free to do it your way, but this is difficult, for it must not become opinion and prejudice. Be careful! Edna Miriam spoke of water: The skin dies for water. It is like a sponge and needs water. No water on earth will wash the skin when later followed by oils. You must first get rid of opinion and prejudice about it, then you will work it out in the outer. You must get rid of personality: "My skin is too dry. Can you stand looking at me?" This is self! When rechemicalizing the body, just reach up, lift your hands and let the Light of Spirit flow in and through the condition of mind. Spirit and prayer can heal you. The Father does not give us the new until we use what we have. You must cleanse you of all fear and doubt. A little leaven can ferment and congest the whole. If you have no offensive intention in mind, others will take no offense. (One of us complained that her arms are too hairy.) You do not have a problem outside (external to you). You have a problem inside! You are not hairy outside. You are hairy inside! Be happy and joyous. If you see a beautiful body on the beach, say, "That is the type of body I am building in the next incarnation." If you so gave to the world and released the vibration you must through your work, the hair would fall from your body! You have only started with conquering your self-pity. Do not hide it and hug it to yourself. You keep your arms covered for fear of offending, but what you are saying is "I don’t really believe that God can do it." God cannot do a thing until you do something about yourself. You must clean house first! We let ridicule stop us. The most spiritual person can have the greatest pride! Among the Sons and Daughters of Men, a jungle creature attitude causes pride (as a pride of lions). Pride is one of the rottenest hangovers, and purely an emotional thing. It comes through five incarnations. Don’t grow mental hair on the inside. You hide it from the outer, not from pride, but for the sake of expiation. If you are self-conscious about it, you have not worked it out. Don’t waste any thought or time on self-pity. Be thankful for such a beautiful body. Anything I have is mine. I earned it. I can change it only by earning it again. Nothing is impossible to God! Your desire to hide and cover up is still there, but your Oversoul caused you to confess.
God has given you free will and free choice. This is the salvation of the Adamic Race. Your smallest weakness becomes your greatest obstacle in your chain of life. Your greatest virtue is less than your weakest point. Your weaknesses shall be on your life chart, and you cannot erase it unless you eliminate it in ascending! A weakness, no matter how small, will cause you to fall to the bottom. You may have worked for years for your accomplishments, but your smallest weakness will hurl you down. No will power exerted over your past can hide it, for this is the place of revelation. The Initiations last night showed that individually you do not mind being spoken to once about a thing, but you do not like being prodded about it. You have pride predominating, then resentment. You must get to the place where whenever a word is spoken to you your colors do not flare, even in initiations on the inner! (Each of us did. We did not like to be prodded, harped at and nagged. We must come to a place where we have no resentment. If we should not, we fail this summer!) The loop on the pot holder! Keep it clean! Watch every detail! Only so can we accomplish what we must. Do it without resentment. Having resentment here is bad enough, but to bring it into Heaven! Resentment against anyone is out! Lift and scrape and dig until you get at the root of pride and resentment.

Washington, D.C., via Seattle To Edna Lister: The Secretary of War regrets to inform you that your son, 1st Lieutenant Russell J. Elliott, was killed in action in the Pacific area the 15th of December 1944, while being transported aboard a Japanese vessel. Confirming letter follows. E.F. Withel, Act. Adj. General of Army. Lesson: Power is coming from a Supreme Source of All Sources, direct from the Supreme Father to you. This Power is Might beyond all Might, Glory beyond all Glory, Love above and beyond all Love. Now, shall one who neglects Love’s releasing every hour be found worthy? Shall one who grows lukewarm every other hour, or every other day, be found worthy of such Power? If it causes you such great confusion to allow a little Power to move through you, how can God dare to allow this much to flow through you? If the little you can now accept, and "let" use you, so causes you distress, how then can God dare to "Let" you have the "whole Power of God?" When you are half-alive, half-time God-conscious, half-time "trying" – then you have only a "little" Power moving through you, except when Love moves you to a high point of the White Light of the Christ. As the barometer measures the falling temperature, so do pain and weakness register your "falling" from a high state of consciousness to a new low state of consciousness. Do not fall from your highest Point of White Heat. It is your choice. Where shall God find you? High or Low?
Your greatest virtue can ascend you only step by step. Your smallest weakness can throw you down a whole flight of steps in an instant. You are only as strong as your weakest weakness. Search for that weakest part diligently and with as much fervor as you seek your greatest delights. Thus shall your soul be free of all hidden things forever and your body is ascended under Law. What is Light ascends; what is dark descends. Choose which you shall serve, Light, or dark of the subsoul. Listening to the "inner" voice when it cautions us not to say or do certain old, off-color things opens the path to receiving high information. Every time we listen and obey, we see or hear a higher "something." Psychology and the power of reasoning: Induction, comparison, deduction, analysis and synthesis. We constantly induct from the outer through the solar plexus, and it becomes an emotional experience. We compare the present with past experiences, then apply the sifting process of deduction. Under analysis we bring reason and logic to bear as rationalization. Synthesis is our final weaving together of all into a formula or conclusion. An opinionated attitude precludes these five points of formulating a synthesis. Live largely today, as though tomorrow never comes. Today is the day to live gloriously. The proper attitude for a student is to ask before acting, not to ask the same question repeatedly! Never ask a favor or special treatment for self. Ask to give it to another. After one of us inconsiderately bumped another several times during dinner, Edna Miriam said, "This is such inconsideration and shows indifference and going through life just edging one’s way in an incarnation, to produce this lack of control. Look first before moving." Whenever Edna Miriam has committed any offense, large or small, she used it as the opportunity to go to the Father and lay on the Altar all like offenses that have occurred in the past, through all incarnations, and anything of similar nature. Thus, much is cleaned up at such time.
We return to our places in the Starry Crown. We receive credits for our success and debits for our rebellion. You have done your work well, though it is a shame you have debits about it. You do not leave your mothers on earth without saying that you will be gone for several hours. This is a delinquency. [Edna Miriam had arranged for a local fellow to escort some of the women to see the river bridge the following afternoon. They wanted to see it by moonlight. Without informing her, they went at night; the road at night was dangerous, and they were reprimanded.] Edna Miriam was explicit in her statement, "The young women want to see the bridge by daylight." Climb back by Discrimination and listen to the words of anyone giving orders. "Daylight" is not "moonlight," so you are charged with greed. Money or moonlight, it is all greed. You have many gorgeous credits. Yet you are back to the point where the Power coming through now, for this day, cannot use you because of your lack of desire to be Discrimination. When your Desire bursts to a flame to do this, you will be on your way. It does not take much to send you to the bottom. You came through on much else, but this is dry rot, greed to self. It takes but a little breeze to snuff the small flame within. All of you are to reduce your salt intake. Never use it on greens. Salt is an earth preservative. Vegetable salts are good. Three-quarters of your crystallization is from past overuse of salt. You have a lot more "letting" to do for complete health. It catches up with you when something happens. You are of knowledge and have a Law to cover everything. Stop, think and use your powers of discrimination. Stop and look before you leap!
The Ray of the Mother is a consuming fire to burn out all dross. This dross lies in the hidden rooms of the subsoul until the Oversoul seeks to ascend the whole soul. Then what has been hidden for ages boils up to the surface in many ways, thus allowing itself to be remade once more into Light, as it was in the dim beginnings of time, before the subsoul traveled up through all life of evolution. When the egoic soul gives it free lifting and succumbs not unto its clamoring for power, then the body ascends with the Soul and we achieve full Stature of the Christed One. When the conscious egoic soul listens to subsoul’s plausible vaporings, then it adds to its power until it boils around underneath, eating away or dry-rotting the cells of the body. In some cases, also crystallizing the cells. Yet the ever-ingressing Fire of Love, the Consuming Fire of Love, the Consuming Ray of the Mother, so principled to burn darkness, enters – and the war between Light and Dark goes on in the body itself, as the battleground it then becomes. Therefore, the Law of the Consuming Fire of Mother Love is that it shall either burn out the dross or burn out and consume all darkness. Obedience to the Laws of "Letting" and "Lifting" will cause the dross to be consumed to the complete purifying and full Ascension of the body with the soul. "Let" all hidden things come to the surface of the conscious mind. Look yourself in the eye and then conquer all petty self. Search and "lift" all that does not come up, ruling it in its foul lair of the subsoul. You would not drink from a foul cesspool. Past self-prides, self-conceits, self-satisfactions are the foul residue left in the hidden caverns of the subsoul. The time is now when even the worldly subsoul must be lifted, either from the subsoul, leaving the body free to be healed and lifted, or leaving the body to be burned out, thus freeing the hidden things to be taken to their own place to be chained for a thousand years. Therefore, search in the hidden rooms for negative little-self-me things. Surrender them for and to the Ray of Mother Love to be consumed into pure Light, which is then added to your egoic soul substance for daily use now.
You ascend the physical body, then the vibration is encased. You retain enough of the old cells to let the body remain visible. First you equalize the vibration between old and new. The old cells are torn down and new ones built on the new vibration. You are free and have reached it at last. Don’t you realize what we prepare you for? You will not be touched now by what "they" say. Nothing remains within to be touched. You will value your own worth, but not overvalue your work. You will realize that there are no great and no small. Your greatest weakness in your chain of life is details. You do not grow strengths save from weaknesses. Your greatest hidden weakness becomes your crowning glory of strength. Your bodies are yours to build as you will. You can eradicate fear, but it is your choice. Do you think God will harm you? Do you think God will reward you for your sacrifice? You will be glad all your life for this experience. You will not really understand these lessons you receive until you are away. None of you will ever retrogress from this high point.
Pride! Self-pity! The last day of the old. We were told today that on the Power would be increased the next ten days to August 10. Edna Miriam told me to dig out pride as there was mighty little time left! She said, "Learn how to be tactful and diplomatic to make everyone else feel comfortable." Then she shot a bolt that hit dead center. "If you were not prideful, you would not have tried to hide your mother’s illness and where she is [a mental facility]. You wanted to keep it from other people." I was silent and tried to eat. She went right on driving in the wedge. What came up in me was the years of responsibility for mother’s care, loving her so, carrying on in the face of outside curiosity, in my professional field, the business world and so forth. She went on talking about mother. The more she talked, the harder it hurt until I was fairly ill. I couldn’t eat. I found no place to go, then wept. After dinner, while clearing away dishes, Edna Miriam kissed me and said to pull up out of this and come up higher. I said, "It isn’t only pride but grief, too." I still felt very weepy. Edna Miriam went into her room, called me in and told me not to dare to hide behind grief, that it was only rotten pride, that none of us has a right to grief of any kind, that it was the fitting matter on which pride fed. Pride is the cause of arthritis, and because it is in my hands, it meant that I was hiding something, withholding it. Hide nothing, bury nothing. You must be clean. You must cleanse your platter. You dare not have pride. Hide nothing ever. This holds you back. You cannot permit it. Any emotion is credited as self-pity and comes from pride! Any feelings of resentment, flare-ups, no matter how small, are pride. As soon as one thinks of selffirst ("What is this going to do for me or to me"), it is credited as pride. You had a festering boil deep within. Pride causes grief to fester, as does self-pity. It then works up and out through the physical if not released by pulling it out. Hide nothing ever! You have always asked, "Why can’t I do this?" This is why. As long as anything of the past is hidden within, you could not do this. You do realize it, don’t you? The most marvelous thing is to be able to face the world and ask them what is wrong. What are you going to do about it? Do you want to hang on by the toes? For goodness sake, get it over with! If others say you should have done it this way, ask, "How do you know that you would do that if you were in my boots?" A lesson later: You have no other eye than the single eye, a searchlight. You cannot snoop in others’ affairs while you are contemplating the Laws of the universe. If your eye is single and focused on God, it cannot be focused on anything of earth. As you change your focus of attention, the searchlight will illumine it. In Edna Miriam’s experience, whenever another, who was honest and not snooping, has come to her for help, the Father gave Edna Miriam something to give them as proof of their conduct, past experiences, etc., and it was always right. When one goes to mystical heights in surrender, desire and standing in Light, one will receive everything seen and known by the one who wrote it. Prejudice, opinion and the "enemy" idea can close the door to higher truths. When you want it so hard, when you are consumed with a fire to attend to details, you will kick yourself and do it. You will climb a million times and say, "This time I’ve got you," and still fall into the mire. Each time you ascend, you have built another step. The Father takes you to a higher point to look back and see where you have been. You cannot stand any higher than the last step you have built for yourself within your own soul. Burning desire takes you there! One day you pass a certain point on this. One day something on the outer or inner sets you off, like an oil well; it starts with a small flame. You will ascend one step and pass the ice, water, steam and vapor stages to cross the drab silver fields. You will have gone through a field of color and bathed in purple. Another step and you will stand in the golden Light. Then another step and you will stand in the blinding light of Shekinah Glory. You "cannot see the face of God and live" according to your former existence. Then you will know what details are, that there is no minute thing on earth. You will see ‘it’ in the Light of the Christ as a black cloud. It will look as a blackened mantle on your aura. You will be ashamed, for this is what the Father sees in us. He looks to the one to lead another into the Light and He sees this! You must hew every step out of the ice of your own karma! There is only so much room at the top! Many sit in their own mud puddles. This is why so many follow those who teach mental persuasion and will power, who speak of the power that will make anyone do anything. They want to try it on their husbands, wives and bosses! Just a word and a prayer would turn the Hitlers and Mussolinis of the world into lambs. To hold an organization, someone must know the truth, declare it and stand.
You are free now. Never again need you have one bit of resentment or rebellion. Watch. This is the first time since I have known you that yellow and red has not come from below the belt. The subsoul is free. Last night you went up. You returned with a dream that you had gone to a great social gathering in your nightgown. This is your subconscious telling you that you were not protected with enough Light while traveling at night. Keep cleaned up now. You can do the rest yourself, just a little here and there to clean out.
This is the time to analyze and dig – and we are on the track here to clean up all our past karma, and know ourselves. I have had many lessons here on breaking up the cement within. A terrific blow was sent me Monday evening at dinner. My path in preparation for becoming selfless was to clear up prenatal complexes from five incarnations back – and all had to be done before others, not alone. Cannot tell you how many times I’ve been used to put through the lesson on "how not to do it." This has been my path. Hard? Perfect. Good for me. Weeks of pounding – never knowing when or where the axe would fall. This is it. Now we are engaged on a psychoanalysis of self. The whole analysis took Edna Miriam two years. I am going to clean house until I am cleansed. No more limitations of pride, greed, resentment, self-pity, etc. We are no good to the Father any other way. And do you know that we are still in the position of "thinking about it"? The cement in me has been broken. Now to clean out the pieces. See the Lecture "Self-Analysis"
Edna Miriam said that the only thing to do at the time of a mistake or misdemeanor was to arise and go to my Father’s House now! Ascend into the Light, breathe deeply, look up, call on the Light and go to my next duty. This is all. Later, Edna Miriam said: All you have to do from now on is to say, "I now arise and go into my Father’s House." Call on the Light. You must not analyze from this point on. Do not spend the time in it. You must do this and you overcome this way. I wept. She demanded that I come up. Any weeping was self-pity. She looked deep into my eyes and commanded "Come up. Come on up. Take a breath. Look up. You conquer this now. Now is the time to overcome. Say, ‘I now arise and go into my Father’s House.’ " I struggled and wrestled and overcame. Edna Miriam said that I was never to try to explain, which means only excusing self! Stay high. You are a conqueror. Today you did this yourself. You can always do it for yourself whenever you feel that you are not high or when any thought of self creeps in. Immediately make your stand and call on the Light. Stay high. "You are tough and have always been tough. Your body is perfect, and can take anything. How could it be possible to heal others and not you? You have the right words for all. I know of no one who has such a command of words, yet does not listen to them! You have the mind, the brain and need not go into analysis. You will be the one to point out all details to others! Today you again set aside fate." Breathe the egoic soul and mind into the body after prayer and take at least five minutes to come back. The egoic soul joins Oversoul for o’ershadowing, and since you lift most of the subsoul, the little subsoul left to take charge of the body leaves it in control of the physical body and it runs rampant. Bring back egoic soul to take control of the physical, and never go about with egoic soul "out." Rejoice at the time of a test, to be happy and joyous. You are being tried for a balance in Joy and in prerogatives and duties. You may not lay down the heavenly duties and prerogatives for earthly duty or for pleasure. (Prerogative: A natural or divinely given advantage or privilege or faculty.) Be alert. Take nothing to the self. When you break one Law, you break all Laws! Do not take time for grieving to the self, while the earth is left without the Power you are supposed to release. Arise and go into the Father’s house and stand under the Light. When we have cleaned out a root, stay in the Light! When we rid subsoul of a devil of self, we must immediately fill the vacancy with Light so that another devil will not detect the void and fill it. It is as with the skunk. We know where he is and where he’s been by the odor he leaves behind, even after he is gone. So the other devils are attracted to the vacancy left unless we rise and go to the Father’s House, filling the hole with Light and Fire. Keep a flaming pillar of fire before you. Keep yourself encircled with Light! Generally, these "devils of self" know and respond to command! Who is in control? Who conquers, who prevails? Jacob wrestled all night with the angel. We must look up – keep head, eyes, hands, and mind up while conquering. When we lift the past, there is no need to look back and analyze. If we go back and mull it all over in the mind, after we lift it, then we are indulging in self-pity, self-blame, pride – the self!
Remember, our training is to enjoy and love all details. Accept, take reprimands and live. Watch out for details today and tomorrow. You will be checked. When checked, rise up to the Father’s House in Joy. Take your body with you. The emotional and the mental lives take the body down with them. Be as wise you can be! The "thief in the night" Law is still standing, and the test comes when not expected. Details and testing, now and always. You are still being tested. Watch! Do not let it slip from consciousness.
Lesson: the Master’s Path is steps, and only by climbing one step at a time, while building the next step and gaining the strength for standing on and defending that new step, can the student become a "Master in Law." Take time to become Law. Seek ever to live by and as Law. One Law well learned, until it becomes a life habit, is worth more than a book full of knowledge soon mislaid or forgotten in life’s turmoil of actions. Remember that each one is as important as his desire is perfect. No one is small. No one is great. Everyone is a Neophyte at all times, for there are millions of Realms and Laws. A challenge must be met upon the ground of the challenger’s choosing. Self-satisfaction is the curse of all earth expressions. The way may be hard but the end is glorious. Yet a little more digging and lifting, and watch that you do not become personal or use force. There is no virtue in force. None!
Edna Miriam asked, "Who left the spoon in the jam jar?" I had and said, "I think I have." This reaction is one of hiding! The first reaction is from deep within. If you cannot take a reprimand without humiliation, it indicates pride of perfection and you carry blame for the one who reprimands. This is what humiliation consists of, and you conquer it when you can take a reprimand with grace. The petty little self is subtle. It has the subtlety of Satan, which only the Light of Heaven reveals. When one dreams that one has died, pride has died. Watch! When you have no arrogance or pride, you will be great. God has not asked you to conquer this without having what it takes to do this. The more you help another, the more you will help yourself up. Do your best every moment and leave the rest to the Father. (I am supposed to be an expert in understanding every situation in which I find myself.) The Law is, let he who is blameless cast the first stone. When you cannot take reprimands but cover your mistakes, you blame and criticize. When are you going to practice using the lights to anticipate others’ needs? Can you recall words after they are spoken? Can you put together a broken bottle? The keynote of healing service is a deep, abiding understanding in which is no self. Never say, "I can’t understand." Send out the Light of understanding and apply analysis to cover all others’ frailties. Practicing understanding can cleanse anything. Say. "I do understand, and that one is on his path and doing what he can do now." You are conquering the outer and the subsoul to make it great. Do not be soft.
Conquer where you are. Conquer circumstances and conditions, day by day, which means the conquering of self. You will understand better as you go along. Daily, as you begin to study, ponder and think, you will grow in the Wisdom necessary to do it. All shall follow – you cannot do it all at once. Your difficulty is that you would like to bite it off and chew it all at once. Every month you will find yourself doing better and as you see, ponder and think, you will release the Power to lift in the spot whereon you stand. You will have to lift up or cut off the anchors to the past. What would you think about a cowboy who went out into the range and found the carcass of a dead cow, then tied it to his lasso and dragged that dead carcass wherever he went? You have a dead carcass, and it is your past. You are dragging it. Every time you go over it emotionally, it smells worse. Let the dead past bury its dead. Lift the persons who have despitefully used you. Every time you talk about them, you disturb them. The vibrations of the spoken word are real. When you speak of somebody else, you grieve them. Do not pity yourself. You have not been used any worse than anybody else. Everybody goes through one way or another about the same thing. Every ego has to suffer to know God. It is the only way back to God. You have friends – do you not realize that now? They are going to stand by and see you through. They pray for you that the Light burns out the grief in your heart until you see that you had to be free. Is it not worth working for? And this will come through no grief to anyone. Does it please you? Then why hang onto the dead carcass? Lift it and go forth. You are just beginning. It is as if you had been, until now, getting all equipment and tools together for your life’s work. You have all the tools in your hands. It is going to take you a little while to sharpen them, but you will begin using them and get better right along. Oh, if I could show you how far you can go by sticking to the Path of Light! Picturing it for you is hard, but you can go to the Highest Point of your greatest Vision. That is all you have to do – follow the Light. There is no obligation except to live your highest. If you desire perfection, if you keep the fire of desire burning, if you make even one small step toward that desire for fulfillment, the way remains open. It would close only if you lost your desire for service. A position does not honor any man. The man has to honor the position to hold it! You increase your good by blessing and praising it. "Thank God, I already have vision." You must practice. "Father, here I am. I know You want me as Your servant. I know You want me to come before Your Altars. I know You want me to remember in the morning. Thank you." Go to bed saying this, knowing that you will remember where you have been during the night. You must do this in Unconquerable Faith that cannot be touched! The faith of a little child – with no question or doubt. Choose what child you’ll be each hour in your praise, attitude, expectancy. "I am now fully expectant that all good things are mine of the Lord right now, and I shall continue to earn this good by right attitudes, by right thoughts, by right love." Which way is right? The up way, or God’s way. Be joyous!
When I bumble or miss the high calling, I will instantly arise and go into my Father’s House, and I will stand under the Light, waiting upon the Lord (in Praise, Joy, Love) while I work out my own salvation here below. "Oh, Great Father, I have arisen. I now stand in Your House under Your Light. Lift me, hold me, fill me, use me and make me the servant, always, in all places, whatever I do, of all Your Power. Thank You, Father. You always say yes. Here I am, Father. Wipe out all memory impressions of the past so they may be lifted, and I may go on from this moment forth, following Thy Path and being Thy true servant!"
We should never be humiliated when reprimanded. It is a sign of pride. We must take reprimands with grace! We shall become the Law, so that the instant reaction to every question shall be perfect! The instant reaction is the true subconscious reaction. "I am getting what I need, hour by hour." When the poker is put in, you feel, not think. Dig! Do you understand what digging means? You are now at the most dangerous point that you can reach on the path – neither above nor below. Now climb up over the top! You are "meshing" more beautifully every day. You have the ability to become instant in action, mind, Law, performance, practice, perfection. You have the ability to do! The keynote of healing is a deep, abiding understanding in which is no self. Everything can be cleaned up by practicing understanding and compassion. "I do understand that they are working out their salvation where they are!" You are not soft, but are conquering the outer and the subsoul to make it great. It is as if everyone you contact has a wire loose and dangling. You plug it in and over it will ride Universal Power, new ideas and new ambitions. You will find yourself able to speak a word here or there. You are going against darkness, not other people. Do not give offense with your views. Argument is permissible for the masses, but we never argue. We give a Law or statement of truth, just drop a seed where it will bear fruit and harvest. Speak the Law, but do not argue to further offense. Drop the seed when you can, and it will grow. Don’t argue people away from it. You will always find two footsteps of the Master before you. Be sure you plant your own footsteps within them. Look before taking the next step, and be sure you walk within that step. Our Power is the One Power. The one who becomes a transforming station of Power becomes Power and works as Power. Write this: "I am now seeking with all my body, with all my heart, with all my mind, with all my soul to become a great transforming station, releasing the almighty Power of God upon the earth." To release Power, one must be a transmitter of Power. The Power must be stepped down to be released into earth, otherwise it is overbearing. A transformer sets Power to the voltage that others can tolerate. Give only the amount the other person can stand. "The Power itself doeth the work. It releases just the right amount through me under all conditions." Every letter of the alphabet releases its own Power vibration, and so does every word. As a perfected transformer of Power, you will automatically be attuned to release the right amount of Power. When you are negative and release no Power, you use your own soul substance until finally there is no more, and disintegration occurs. You must remain in tune. "I will now work out my salvation exactly where I stand today. Where I stand now is one step nearer to my goal. I am now determined to make every move of my life upward toward my heavenly goal. I am now convinced of my own ability to march day by day toward my highest goal." It is good to achieve, is it not? It is good to walk in the footsteps of your achievement. How do you increase your good? By blessing and praising it. How do you increase seeing? Thank the Father that you already have it. To learn, one must do and practice. "Father, here I am. I know that You want me as Your servant. I know that You want me to come before Your altars. I know that You want me to remember in the morning. Thank You!" We must do this in Unconquerable Faith that cannot be touched! The Faith of a little child, with no question or doubt. Choose your child to be each hour in your Praise, Attitude, and Expectancy. "I am now fully expectant that all good things are mine of the Lord right now, and I shall continue to earn this Good by right attitudes, by right thoughts, by right love." Which way is right? The up way or God’s way. (This is a repetition of statement at the end of August 12)
To love God with the Love of God, this is the sum total of all your needs. Love does fulfill all Law; therefore, let love be your Power. Let love move forth from you in ever-increasing volume that your Creations may be fulfilled. Ask what you may, then release the love to fulfill your wish. Let love be the Substance to make your desires solid. Let love fill your Desire-molds. Love more. Let love possess you. When you cannot love a condition, turn from the condition and love God. He will then send through your love enough Power to change the condition. This is Law. Let the Law of Love do the work. Love must flow freely through you to fulfill the Law of your life, and this love must be the full Love of God, pure and undiluted by the self. Therefore, lift the self to be Soul. Then let the Love of God possess you and use you to the fulfillment of all your desires and needs. So shall perfection follow, and through the spoken word it shall be completed. Love is all. Love is complete. Love is success.
In our training here, no excuses are accepted. The only course is to do it. It is not an easy path. The instant reaction to whatever comes our way, shows us where we stand on the Path. A touch of resentment shows we are prideful, or if we rebel at all. Then we come to the place where neither are apparent in our conscious minds, nor yet in our hearts – yet the Father sees it from our lights and colors showing from within! We have to lift, and scour constantly – it is the only way.
God is now limitless in His ability to be and do. He is limitless in His Desire for His own perfection to manifest as you. It’s the limit you place on these that causes your lacks, needs, pain and delay. Remove your limits on His Power and all shall fulfill itself for you in completeness and in the creation of your every desire now. This is the key to success! This came after breakfast. Edna Miriam told me, "You have everything in your hands. You have several answers for the same questions. At home, put first things first. You know what to do, never give in to the body. You still must work this out and you cannot sigh and speak about it. Go on, on high, one way, one desire, one path, one goal! You either want to be the strongest person in the world with the greatest capacity to do the most work or do not! Which do you want? This is for you to decide. You must face what you did before. That is why you are returning home. Just make up your mind, then take your body with you. Do you think the school would go on if I wanted to give in to this body of mine? It has been like having appendicitis and a rotated back. I just "let go" when the Master Orders me. Otherwise, I take it with me." You make your stand in graciousness and kindness, but firmly and finally. You shall pay for this past year, as we all do for heavenly gains. I must give up my house and move. You must return and work it out. If you haven’t by the time I come, I shall spank you black and blue! Whenever another asks, prods or snoops about one’s loved ones, defend them always. Explanations made in humiliation are due to self-pity. When told about oneself, stand up, chin up and lift it and the other into the Light. Edna Miriam’s prayer at breakfast was for each of us in turn. For me she thanked the Father for perfect healing and that all fears are erased from mind and heart, that healing is fully accepted. It is only subconscious fear that could cause any pain. I have no reason for a flare-up of nerves, sinuses or anything! "Your subconscious has moved in certain grooves for years. It takes five years to rid yourself of these. The roots have all been torn out and now it is up to you to refill the grooves and prevent the past habits from resettling. Age does not limit this. You have gained twelve years experience in how not to do it. Take your lessons and build." Think of for whom and what you want success. Your case proves that it can be done. Think how your experience will aid thousands of others! Think how you will inspire them. Do you know who you are? You have all the answers.
You have gained much this summer, have you not? (Yes.) You have been given free will, so God has no control over you except to give you work to do, ideas, etc. It is up to you what you do with them. He cannot make you do a thing. That’s when you say "God’s Will." He can only guide you and lift you. You can only work out your idea of self-will. If you slip, another takes your place, but it takes time again to build them up. This is God’s Will, and it might be said also that it is man’s will, for when we come to the weak place in their armor, we hold. They must have their experience and delay takes place. Your indomitable courage is enough to see that all goes perfectly. Your faith, your courage and standing can bring all to pass. Hold.
Let the Power move forth undiluted by any self, no doubts, fears or self-pity. You can now finish your own karma speedily. Use Love’s Power as strength through these days to come. You shall then have the full strength to accomplish anything that you desire. You shall have eyes that see fully, and in them no darkness nor any manner of limitation. You shall have bodies, perfect and divine, and in them no weakness of pain or lack of strength to cover all needs.
We have so few days left before the 19th [September]. And each is important because the Power will be "set" as to the amount released through each of us by midnight of the 19th. This will not be stepped up again until after November 1st. At this point there is no limit on the amount to be released by each one. The only limit is what each one’s heart will stand. When the Power is sent forth on a full Joy Vibration, the heart can take a limitless amount. The pure Joy Vibration is one of pure Shekinah Glory direct from the Supreme. Miracles are performed on a Joy Vibration. To reach the highest Joy Vibration, in fact, the only way it can be reached is through the Praise of God. Praise alone will bring Miracle after Miracle, Miracle upon Miracle. This Praise of God is just a continuous saying "Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts," in reverence before the Thrones, without thought of self, wants, needs or earth. To become the Consciousness of God, in ecstasy too great to be borne, this is the Praise of God, which releases the Love of God as Substance, which does bring anything we have ever desired into full visibility. So, let’s Praise all we can these remaining days until the 19th. Let’s form the habit of living each hour by the Praise of God. Rejoice and be glad. Now is the right time.
Only the highest point of the White Light of the Christ can fulfill all Law. The highest point of the White Light of the Christ is the point of Pure Love Substance, which must be stepped down to visibility. Only the use of Praise and Singing can step it down. And only the Vibration of the Joy of God can reach up into it from earth. Joy is the only medium to lift the soul up and to lower the Substance. Therefore, learn to Praise through the Joy of God. It must be a twenty-four-hour Praise by the Joy of God. Hold to it until you understand the Joy of God, lived for Joy’s sake.
Plan more loving attention to the smallest details of daily living. Drudgery bores everyone, and we are all tired of slaving away. Do you know how tired the Father is of your resentments over tasks never done willingly but always as if you were doing another’s task? Do you know how weary God becomes at your lack of Joy in paying your debts? When you seek with all your heart, soul and mind for perfection in the smallest task and detail of each task, then shall you truly be overcoming and acting as what you are to become. Details will lift you to the highest Height of Glory, once you do them in enough Joy, enough Love, enough Praise. Why do you not use Love in each thing, as it comes for you to do? Unless you so, you are always creating more times to do the same thing. This is the only up way. To use it or not to use it is your choice.
This summer has not been reading, charts, etc., and classes like Buffalo and Cleveland. It has been a subsoul searching of self and a bringing to the surface of resentments, rebellions, pride, self-pity and all subversive emotions that come up and cloud our vision and keep us from making the grade at the right time, taking our opportunities away from us. And we have just begun! It goes on constantly, a rigorous, vigorous watch on self. But it’s the most thrilling hunt and chase in life. Hunting out self saves incarnations of having to work it out. Praise, praise, praise and living in love is the secret. Laws:
You must gather up every smallest detail of your life. One small thread of detail left lying on the ground will be an anchor holding you to earth and under earth’s delays and troubles of obstacles. Therefore, search and search each hour of your lives lest one small detail is holding you from full open Vision of Seeing and Hearing while fully conscious on earth. Each now pray, and search through today’s doings for small things left undone. Remember, there is no small thing in an hour. You are tested on the small things. Then you build up the strength to overcome all the large things.
This is your own very hour of complete fulfillment of all desires, and all the Promises of God. You are, each one of you, your own Creator. You are, each one of you, your own present fulfillment. Enough love, enough Praise will surely Release enough already God-given Substance – your own –to fulfill your dreams, desires, Plans, needs. You can release as much Love and Praise in Joy as you can fill into any given hour. Enough Praise fills your hour full to overflowing. Fulfill your own Promises. Enough Praise will do it. Fulfill your own Destiny. Enough Love will do it. You’ll never reach too high a point of Zeal, of Love, of Joy. You can keep on expanding, however, into a greater capacity. It takes more Substance to build a great ideal than for a small, "after-the-world-pattern." You can increase the fervency of your Praise each hour. You can increase the Power behind your own Unconquerable Faith each hour – if you care enough about it!
Details shall be your continued Law. And this is that Law. Heed. If there is a thing you have done, or that you have left undone, that is not good for all the world to do or not to do, then you are breaking a Law. If all the world may do it at all times, if you can do it at all times, if your family can do the same thing at all times, or leave it undone at all times, then it is good. If it cannot be done by all, forever, then it is of darkness, and so small a Law broken breaks all Law. This is Law. To leave undone one detail, or to half-do a detail and leave for another to stumble over, or even for you to stumble over on your own return, causes you to lose your high Vibration, for Law is broken. To cover one detail in carelessness, or in a way that all the world cannot use also all the time, is a broken Law, and the least Law broken is all Laws broken. Such causes chaos in the world and delays too great to be borne. How long are you going to "work" for it before you become it? Be it and stop fussing and working toward it. Surrender and let it move through you. Ascend and let. Major or minor, all answers are yours.
Remember that each smallest task, each simple detail is based on Law. If a thing is not good to do or to leave undone at all times, by everyone on earth, then it is not a good thing to do or to leave undone at any time, not even once!
To be impersonal in one’s love means to love, love, love until one reaches a place of ecstasy, then continue loving without ever asking anything for self, without expecting or demanding one bit of love from anyone in the outer. Just loving because the love of God possesses you so that it must press forth as you, yet forever pouring forth more on everyone, even those who despitefully use you! You cannot love enough. Love is the emotion of the Creator gods. Love cannot be ice or static, which is not love but is born of selfishness. Love is active heat, it burns, it flames, it moves out and up. The world has thought that to be impersonal is to be cold. Selfishness is cold. It is only personal, ruthless. "Im" means God within, so "impersonal" is God acting within the person or God as the person. So how can an impersonal lover be one who never loves? To love impersonally, one must love and do all the loving without regard about where it falls, on stony or fertile ground, or what its reception is by anyone. It is to love ever more, never reaching enough heat, never flaming enough, never going high enough or hard enough.
I have been given the Power of the Love of God. Use it. I have been given the Power of Right Faith. Use it. Become Unconquerable. I have been given the Power of full Glory of Light. Use it. I have been given the full consciousness of God, complete for every hour of every day. Hold it. I have been given the Power of the Joy of God. So live. I have been given the Power of full Vision. Look up. I have been given the Power of full hearing of God. Listen to Him. I have been given the Power of the Virtue of Prayer without ceasing. I have been given the Power of Right Thinking. Use it. I have been given the Power of Right Love. Use it. I have been given the Power of Right Seeing. Use it. I have been given the full Power of Right Hearing. Use it. I have been given the Power of Right Discrimination. Use it. I have been given the Power of Right Reason. Use it. I have been given the Power of Right use of Light. So use. I have been given all Power over darkness. Use it. I have been given the full Power of All Discretion. So use it. The Right use of Power is "Letting." To "Let" means that I become fully Unconquerable and Invincible Law. There are many levels of Light. There are three times 144 Steps to the full Source. On each third step is placed a pool of Light in which each aspirant stands in turn. Many never move beyond the first of these pools of Light, so thinking, "I am in the full Light. I need go no further. I am in the Source." Each Pool has many stagnant ones standing and thinking, "Now am I God." As long as one can be offended in any way by anyone, then that one stands in a Pool of Light, stationary. When one is still letting self rule instead of Soul, the cry under all forms of their Initiations is, "Lord, look into my Heart and judge its purity"– instead of seeking the selfish subsoul cause of their own self-pity. When one has fully surrendered the subsoul, no offense can be taken. Only a still deeper searching for the offensive, buried, petty self still hiding and skulking around in the subsoul, seeking ever to devour soul substance in false, silly, petty emotional attitudes of self-pity and self-crediting with lovely virtues. The cry of such a one is, "I am misunderstood." The ones who have Ascended all the way know. They have fully surrendered to be cleansed of all self.
When confronted with one who says "I cannot do this. I have tried everything. I can’t see how it can be done," you know that he is justifying himself for not fulfilling his mission, being lukewarm and indifferent. His egoic soul and conscious mind are reacting to the domineering subsoul and subconscious mind, which says ‘I won’t,’ and that he needs to arise to the switchboard above, plug in the lines of his faculties and face himself in acceptance. In other words, he must be above his own head and look down, just as a ship’s captain remains on a bridge and sends orders to the engine room. The captain is not controlled by the engine room, the solar plexus, the seat of emotion. This is how the egoic soul conquers the subsoul.
The Law so declares that each egoic soul shall be given enough Substance of Light, stored up in each his own Star, to fill all his own molds of Desire full, and to bring to pass all his needs, promised him of God. It also declares that each egoic soul must release this Substance by transforming it from invisible Light to a lower form of substance, which can be seen. Each egoic soul must transform his own substance, from storage in Star to earth mold. We have not yet praised enough. For the Law further declares that only Praise of Singing and Praise of Rejoicing shall release enough Love substance to build into fulfillment God’s given Promises unto us.
To have the Kingdom, I must let go of that self-made kingdom of darkness and of weakness, not one-half or "almost all," but completely.
One of us had forgotten something, and we were all called into the room and given the Law again, absolute perfection on all counts always. It is not only good and a necessity to take it, but not until it is put into action and becomes reality has there been a real achievement. We were called on the absolute necessity of being alert at all times. The egoic soul has been given the full Power of a Creator. Hourly we create graven images that we worship for a time and only under despair do we turn to the Light from this image we have created from our own distorted opinions and prejudices to our own undoing. We must seek perfection, lest by our own use of that Creative Power with which we were endowed in the beginning, we still have self-opinions and prejudices left underneath the surface of the conscious mind that are still creating falsely, unbeknownst to us and without our consent. We are Creators born. Yet, only under sacrifice of all self is full Power of Creation released unto us for use. Surrender to Love. Sacrifice petty self-worship.
You are beginning to understand the responsibility of your positions. Now you must hold, defend and honor them. More points are lost because of inability to stand and hold, and even more because of lack of defense of it. Make no concessions to evil! This is not a prideful defense. Honor your position and not self! You will take the essence of this summer with you wherever you go. You now must practice what you have learned. There is no more the Master can do for you. Love lays its life down. It does not ask for revenge or seek to hurt the one who is loved. Revenge sews you up and is followed by crucifixion. The Law: Be wise, not foolish. Be alert, observant, discriminating and discreet. There is no point of modification for it – you either are or not! 100 percent or zero. You can make good! There are no half-way points or platforms. The Initiations do not stop! You have an ensample of how to take them. You will all go on as you have been ordered. You can make it! You have been watched and trained as no one has been before, and have crammed 20 years’ work in one summer. You have taken it, but you haven’t practiced it. You must apply all you have learned! You have been given the Keys of the Kingdom! To ask special favors of anyone at any time is not being Law. Stand and Pursue balanced living – sweetly, firmly, final. You have ability to call on the Power of God every hour of every day! Do it and truly be Law! You must not misuse Power, or it will be withdrawn. You have accomplished much, yet not enough. You have been built up, but not enough. You cannot half-believe anything – for you get no result in half-worked or carelessly worked problems. How can you expect to fulfill Law with one thing left out? You can’t! You will climb as high as you desire! Self alone closes the door! You are on your own. If you come through, all right – if not, all right. You have each resented at one time or another. Only the Sword of Truth can penetrate and cut out the roots of self. Only you can cut out self. This morning she did 11 years work for you. You must understand Love, what it is and what it will do. The Keynote of Love is Daring. It is strictly up to you to work out your path! You cannot take playing with Laws into Heaven. You can have fun in Joy. You still gain in seeing if you work at it, but you must work much harder! Power will be turned off instantly when you slip. When you stumble, go up! The curse is to forgive one’s self easily. You must have proper grief and profit by experience. You are truly free and know it not. Your bonds are cut and the doors are open. Come out into the freedom of Shekinah Glory. You shall win. It is a matter of choice as to how long it will take. There is no question of your ability, your strength to reach up into the Light. Power is waiting to be poured through you. It is a question of your contact, your reaching high enough to touch Power. You must "plug in" all the way for the result. You say that it is a question of Time, yet there is no time! It all rests on you! You are free – blessed, lifted, exalted!
When your body becomes fatigued, stop and rest it up! Entertain no emotion whatever about it. Let it be just a matter-of-fact recognition of a need to rest, and it will be all right. Then get up and go to work. Work no matter what! Keep up, think it through and know. Whenever emotion plays a part in deciding "what" it is, self has entered, that little foul devil just waiting to rear its head at the slightest indication. This is how to recognize selfishness: Whenever you offer an excuse, ask "why," or hold any emotion about what you do, lift it immediately. Use the lash on yourself constantly. Watch, you will be able to see yourself and what you are doing and saying. You will be able to check it immediately, come up, lift, get busy and dig it out. Make a sacrifice of it and work at it. You can give only love and praise. The slightest bit of resentment shows that the self is in control. Live up. The summer has been successful. You have learned how to live high in consciousness. Life will always have its problems, its changes. That is life. Just meet it, live and never let emotion dictate. Always keep plodding on. Never stop your work. Do it and forget the body. It is perfect. Never let it dictate! When it does, you know that subconscious mind controlled by emotions is doing it. Analyze your actions to determine whether they are dictated by emotional or mental selfishness. You will go forth and have difficult tests to face by earth, air, fire and water. You will want to go to distant shores to escape it, or work it out your way. What you had before is nothing. You shall go on and do God’s work. Anything that happens to you is your own. When it is your work and our duty, you will not think of your formulas of self. You are hurt and offended when you are told that you are rotten with self. What do you think of that? You are sent into the world to take the Light. It is your duty. You will go on and find yourselves succeeding. We have given of our best to you. We have opened the Kingdom to you, but cannot control what you do about it. If you hold resentment or other negative emotions, then we may no longer reprimand you. You will know then that you have fallen to a low depth and value. When you have rationalized to the point that you do not want to hear that you are not perfect, the Council will stop reprimanding. We will speak to you of little things, but when that is all you get, watch out. You are forbidden to say "won’t" or "will." It is a challenge to the Lords of Karma to present your bill in full. It is a challenge to the self. What you "will not do" comes to be done all at once. You have been told this many times. You do not know the precious hours you have had. Too much time was spent on reprimands. One way or another, life will give you the lessons you need. We have given only what makes you great, and not one word spoken was unlawful or illegal. You have had all you could bear several times, but not what the Council thought you should have had. Edna Miriam has given you what you need. You will have it to apply. Write what she gave today. The earth creature lives, eats, sleeps, mates, has pleasures and uses all energy for the same. Those who are successful in business apply self-lashes and driving power to use the hours others use for sleep and play to work for outer success. A genius, who is always one of Spirit, has the strength within to apply the lash a million-fold harder to gain outer success, and is conscious of limitations that hinder him from perfect freedom are under the surface to be dug out. The one who fails, uses his time for vain indifference, laziness and lukewarmness of desire to become anything. You are going to keep up this high Vision. Revenge is cut out by lifting the soul, for it cannot be prayed out, melted and dissolved in physical form. Only love can melt its root of self-pity and blame for another. We have freedom, but what good is a freedom that teaches nothing? Struggling and suffering is better than just to sit in joy and make no advance. Hard work and long hours will not hurt us. Self pulling against the soul’s advance can only damage or weaken.
God needs more Power released. You need more understanding of Law. In this way, Power can use you. It is well that the rest of you seek Law from these lessons so that Power can use you. We have given you Law and lessons in how to express that Law, and more than the rest of the world has ever had. When you sit and release Power, this is the greatest release of Power there can be. Until you can pray for twenty-four hours to release Power, you know not of expression! Yours is the greatest opportunity yet. The work of a Creator god is to stand to be used by Light in the overcoming of darkness. This is the work of a Creator god! It is not the knowledge you have, but the Love of God you express, the prayers you say alone, not on the street corners, not to be heard of men, but the prayers you say to the Almighty and the Power you release for the Almighty when you are alone. How do you release Power? When you stand, sit or lie down. When are you the perfect expression of God? When you are lifting, letting the Power go forth, praising the Father and letting more Power go forth. God created you to become an expression of Power of the Divine. God did not create you to express to be heard. God created you to express Power as its vehicle, which is Love, which is Faith, to let it go forth continuously, to pray without ceasing. That is why God created you, and because so few can express Power in prayer, as prayer, just as prayer, the world is in this great need. This Group could release enough Power of Love in twenty-four hours to speed up Law, to change the face of the earth. You are being trained in Law. There are groups to manage emotions, which will solve your emotional problems. If you want to be great in the eyes of men, hunt your group. If you want to be small and ever smaller, follow the Master. You will find the work worthwhile. Your Initiators know your needs, weaknesses and strengths. You are being trained in Law. Thousands of times you will be put in places where you have no expression for anything but prayer. Petty opinions from small minds do not interest God. Keep your opinions out of any discussion. Lift all factions and release Light for all and to hold all in balance. God is not interested in opinions, but in a group with no opinions or prejudices. Stay out of arguments "for" or "against," but declare that both sides are of the Light. All you need to do is to stand and pray, "Father, use me for the exaltation of Power." That is all. Only those who have the heart to stand are left. Stand on a higher plane, with your feet more firmly placed than ever before. Walk on the waters of emotion. You shall see the Master walking toward you. Practice this alone. This is your greatest expression. Look for him on the inner. Pray from now on with more fervor in your expression for lifting. Lift force to the Sun. Do not sling it back at someone who is using it, Take it, lift it, and "see" soft rays of Light filling the void places. Do not leave them hollow.
Law is the orderly procedure of the unfolding of God’s Mind to man. God’s Mind is the balance of Wisdom’s unfailing Principles with Love’s sustaining and enfolding Life. Let the Flame of Fire from above, which consumes all else unlike itself, consume you. "I am now possessed by the fire of the Flame of Life Immortal, and everything that I do is touched by its Glory." Use this constantly and see the Glory of God descend on you. |
